Our History
30 years ago, Don Curtis started a floor covering division for a large retail lumber company. Throughout the years, his customers would ask for Corian® and he saw the need for a new fabrication plant in the Portland and Vancouver area that would cater to the specific needs of each customer. He embarked on his new career in 1992 and Solid Solutions, Inc. was born. With humble beginnings, 2 employees began building countertops in a converted prune dryer with 7-foot tall ceilings. The initial countertops were for large hotel chains and the occassional kitchen and bath. All of the hard work and commitment to quality paid off. As the business grew, so did the reputation of Solid Solutions, Inc. We found over the next few years that our niche was mainly residential (both new homes and remodels) with some light commercial work.
Dupont's new quartz product Zodiaq® was introduced into our region, and Solid Solutions, Inc. became the exclusive installer of the product in the Portland metro area.
In the recent past, Don brought in his son Scott Curtis to be operations manager and prepare him to take over when he retires.
Today, with 11 employees that encompass over 50 years of combined experience in the field and a state of the art facility, Solid Solutions, Inc. is one of the leading fabricators in the Northwest.
The groundwork for our future is being laid today. Our newly remodeled showroom is a beautiful representation of our capabilities and creativity. In addition, we have chosen a select number of dealers and builders. Our customers are the backbone of our business and if we are to continue to succeed, we must nurture those relationships with trust, reliable service, and a continued commitment to producing the highest quality products on the market.
